I think I had seen all types of Presidents in the Philippines: a genius like Ferdinand Marcos; a plain housewife in the person of Cory Aquino; a military man like Fidel Ramos; a popular artist like Joseph Estrada; and ofcourse an economist and harvard graduate like Glora Macapagal Arroyo. But nothing happened to our beloved country. To be fair, today, our country is now first honor when it comes to high percentage of poor citizenry at least in Asia. This is because of the worst performing president of them all – the latter. I think she’s genius when it comes to maneuvering government projects based on numerous projects that were investigated which until now, nothing happened. I can’t describe her to be honest. The legacy of her father – the late Diosdado Macapagal – has come to waste. And I am afraid she totally destroyed the name – Macapagal. No thanks to her husband – the father of all corrupt men and women in the Philippines – a perceived conclusion by some.

So it’s now obvious that it is not purely what is in the head, but what is in the heart that matters most to make someone qualified to be president to help country great again.

Let’s no go to the meat of this article: Bro. Eddie Villanueva, Presidentiable on 2010 Philippine National Elections.

What makes Bro. Eddie qualified to be President at this crucial time of our history?

Aside from being a Preacher and spiritual Director of Jesus Is Lord Church Worldwide Multi-Ministry, Bro. Eddie finished Economics from Philippine Polytechnic University (PUP), was a consistent academic scholar and was hired to teach even without his diploma. He taught his students economics and finance, management, cooperatives, political economy, love for country and the need for social transformation thru the philosophies of Marx, Lenin and Mao. However, when he had personal encounter with his Maker, his principles are still the same minus Marx, Lenin, and Mao but God is added in the equation.

He was the longest sitting University Regent of Polytechnic University of the Philippines without receiving a single centavo for his services because he allotted it for scholarship funds of poor students. Bro. Eddie enrolled at the UP College of Law but did not finish because he was included in the most wanted list of the AFP during Martial Law. He is currently the host of “Diyos at Bayan” and “Jesus the Healer” programs being aired at ZOE11 and GMA7. Compare to all who declared their candidacy to the highest of office in the land, Bro. Eddie has the deepest understanding of the root causes of the problems of our country right now.

Another important qualification of Bro. Eddie is his willingness to empower people. It is a testament that he knows very well the power of teamwork. That he can not do it alone. That he need the brightest men and women to work together for a common cause. His beliefs in the capability of Filipinos to rise above the current situation of our country is enormous. Bro. Eddie is very much keen in tapping all available talents regardless of religious affiliation or political attachment as long as the person passes the criteria to lead morally and intellectually. Many leaders – past or present – are claiming to be somebody who empowers people, but they failed or have a little successes mainly because of the weight that pulls them down we call it political baggage or debts.

If we wholeheartedly try to look at the political landscape of our country today and reflect, money already started to influence the decision making of the electorate. It is reported that millions or close to billion pesos has been spent in political ads by some presidential aspirants. This money will play an important role on how a leader do business contracts for the government. It will be obvious, that these aspirants are doing political gambling. They will pour out money in the gambling table of election hoping to win and be in the position so that in the end, those money will comeback to their lap exponentially. It doesn’t need someone to have a doctorate degree to understand this.

Bro. Eddie on the otherhand will offer a new kind of doing politics in our country. In fact, he already did it last 2004 elections and has been mimic in a way by President Obama last year 2008 during his campaign – Change we need. Pagbabago – the battlecry of the Filipino masses – will be heard again louder than before come 2010.

Bro. Eddie Villanueva is the Founder of the Jesus Is Lord Church Multi-Ministry with chapters all over the country and in 45 different countries. The Bangon Pilipinas Movement also known now as Bagong Pilipinas Bagong Pilipino Movement will be his political party if he run again on 2010 Philippine National Elections.

Eddie Villanueva, a sure candidate for president on 2010 Philippine National Elections, is a visionary leader. Bro. Eddie together with the Bagong Pilipinas, Bagong Pilipino Movement leaders are saying that hope is just around the corner as they presented to the media and the public the platform of government during the latter’s launching at the Araneta coliseum early this year attended by thousands of nation loving citizens of the country representing the different sectors of the society.

Bro. Eddie is a decisive leader and has more than enough experience in leading our nation into economic, spiritual and moral revolution. He speaks from his heart more than from his head though he has both.

Bro. Eddie Villanueva, a true champion and a leader is more than willing to do sacrifices by offering himself for the second time to lead our country as President on 2010 Philippine National Elections.

THE BAGONG PILIPINAS, BAGONG PILIPINO MOVEMENT PLATFORM

Our vision and our hope

We are Filipinos who believe in God and in the Philippines, that it is capable of transforming itself into a productive, prosperous and respectable nation.

We stand for good governance, and good governance can be achieved only when like-minded Filipinos bind themselves together and provide a moral force to bring this about.

We support a Filipino economy that is built on a highly-educated, creative and productive citizenry; one that is driven by sustainable growth for at least 100 years and beyond with optimum investment in infrastructure as well as in modern technology for agriculture, industry and services; one that aims to strengthen and depend on domestic demand while completely taking advantage of what the rest of the world can offer; and one where families can enjoy to the fullest the fruits of their labor right in their own land.

We aspire for a Filipino society that promotes justice for all regardless of their status in life; one where all Filipinos can live in peace and harmony; and one where our integrity and sovereignty as a nation are meaningful because Filipinos are aware and proud of their cultural heritage and they are supported by strong air, land and sea defenses.

Our roadmap to Bagong Pilipinas, Bagong Pilipino

While attaining our vision for a Bagong Pilipinas, Bagong Pilipino or New Philippines, New Filipino will be a long road, we shall persevere in definite stages until we all share in the common hope and say the common prayer that we are making and shall continue to make good progress. Succeeding generations of leaders will have to build on those achievements so that there shall be cumulative growth and development as we aspire to catch up with and finally overtake our Asian neighbors in 24 years.

Our priorities and our commitment

The road to Bagong Pilipinas, Bagong Pilipino is a long, arduous one. There is therefore a need to prioritize if only to show to our people and convince them that we can do it. We have what it takes to be a world-class nation. We need to break the spirit of indifference and skepticism among our people.

In the first six years, we seek to achieve the following goals, the Seven E’s:

1. Empower The People

To empower the people, we shall first ensure the integrity of the new automated voting system by subjecting it to various third party audit and stress tests. This will convince the people that the election mechanism can serve the interests of the people in achieving change through the electoral system instead of staging new forms of public protests. Second, press freedom and academic freedom shall be more strongly upheld by executive commitment and legislative support through appropriate laws. Third, there shall be dedicated desks in each public agency to immediately address the complaints of the general public. The Presidency shall monitor and ensure quick action on these complaints.

2. Emancipate The People

To emancipate the people, first, a quick judicial review shall be conducted of all outstanding cases pending in the regional trial court, appellate court, Ombudsman, Sandiganbayan and the Supreme Court complete with accountability check. There shall be appropriate sanctions against those found to be negligent, corrupt and incompetent. New cases shall be required to be resolved within reasonable period of time. If necessary, dedicated and special courts of law shall be established. High- caliber public lawyers shall continue to be provided to level the legal playing field. This is all about fairness and justice. Second, and in the latter part, there shall be learning campaigns about the country’s rich cultural heritage while efforts shall be undertaken to achieve cultural revival for the full blossoming of Filipino creativity to help the people realize that indeed they can be proud of their heritage then and now, rather than be ashamed of what we have become. This is all about delivering the minds and spirits of the Filipinos.

3. Educate the People

To educate the people, we shall do a quick multisectoral, multidisciplinary stock-taking to overhaul the existing educational program in the Philippines starting with first, the curriculum in all levels with emphasis on the sciences and engineering, mathematics and computer sciences as well as English and literature. Second, there shall also be a comprehensive review of all textbooks and other school materials to ensure the world-class quality of Philippine education. Third, there shall be quick and across-the-board adjustment of salaries of all teaching personnel to ensure a corps of dedicated, highly skilled and well-paid educators. Fourth, there shall be a quick review of all existing learning centers to ensure that only quality schools and colleges are allowed to operate. Fifth, a feeding program shall be installed immediately starting with depressed communities and provinces to spread throughout the archipelago to ensure the proper frame of mind and body of the students. In the latter part, two projects are in the pipeline: public libraries in all cities and municipalities shall be built and continuing education and training shall also be conducted for the senior citizens and those who are intellectually and physically challenged.

4. Energize The Economy

To energize the economy, a comprehensive 24-year program of economic miracle shall be prepared, leveraging on the existing programs and vision of the Government with a great difference: there shall be greater role for Government to direct the priorities of investment and provision of infrastructures to priority areas and sectors to achieve one overriding goal: to see a New Philippines overtaking its neighbors in 24 years or even earlier. First, massive infrastructure projects shall be implemented to ensure more than adequate road facilities, cheaper power, better utilities and communications. We shall build an integrated transportation system that will link air travel and sea travel to railways and road systems for convenience, safety and economy of the riding public. Research and development shall be harnessed to bring about modern and environment-friendly technology to multiply the efficiency and productivity of sunrise segments of agriculture, industry and services and all their ancillary industries. Second, and to ensure resources are available for these massive undertakings, there shall be a rethinking of fiscal policy: regressive taxation shall give way to progressive, simplified taxation to achieve higher tax collection and contribute to income redistribution. If necessary, new taxes shall be passed while existing taxes especially on financial transactions that stifle rather than encourage economic growth shall either be reduced or abolished. Effective tax mapping of all establishments and households shall be conducted to increase the tax base even while the system is being streamlined. Fiscal incentives to industries shall also be rationalized in favor of the provision of better facilities, services and infrastructures. Quality and directed expenditure shall be ensured. Third, we support a truly independent central monetary authority to ensure low and stable prices while the financial system remains safe and sound. The BSP shall be allowed to float its bonds for monetary stabilization. Its capitalization shall be fully paid and if necessary, increased. Sufficient protection shall be afforded by law to central bank staff and officers to safeguard their independence in the performance of their duties. Fourth, given the increasing need for more lands, the current agrarian reform shall be reassessed and recalibrated as necessary to adapt it to modern agriculture. Illegal occupancy of public lands shall give way to important public projects particularly in industrial and commercial zones. Illegal occupants shall be relocated in new communities where employment opportunities shall also be secured. Legal obstructions like right-of-way, temporary restraining orders by the courts, and so on shall be appropriately dealt with to ensure quick resolution of cases and realization of both domestic and foreign investments.

5. Elevate the Living Standards of the People

To elevate the living standards of the people, the manifesto of a common man shall be heeded: the State shall promote an environment where job and business opportunities will make it possible for every Filipino to have: (1) decent and affordable housing by rationalizing all government agencies involved in housing, leveraging on the resources of the GSIS and SSS or a new provident fund system with stronger terms of reference; (2) clean and safe water, electric connection and communication facilities by requiring current water, electric and telecom concessionaires to devise a consolidated system to benefit from economies of scale; (3) decent and affordable medical care by overhauling public hospitals and clinics and providing them with sufficient personnel and logistical support; (4) well- built and well-lighted streets, public parks and playgrounds through effective coordination between the local and the national governments especially in the efficient use of the internal revenue allotment; (5) reliable and secure post office facilities by overhauling the current system and increasing the pay scales of post office personnel; (6) regular garbage collection by institutionalizing performance review of all contractors and sub-contractors; and (7) adequate police protection by overhauling the PNP. Within six years, with ample resources from robust tax collection and a conscientisized bureaucracy, we want to improve on the old Philippines where public services worked and were highly-prized and Filipinos would never trade staying in the Philippines with living in other countries. Overseas employment is no longer a necessity but will be reduced to a simple choice.

6. Eradicate Bad Governance

To eradicate bad governance, we shall, first, encourage a covenant to be signed by the President, the Senate President and the Speaker of the House as well as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court that they reiterate their oaths of office and their commitment to carry out their respective mandates to achieve good governance, free of corruption in all agencies of Government under their jurisdictions. This is possible because with a robust economy yielding higher public revenues, salaries of all public personnel shall be increased to reduce their vulnerability to corruption. At the same time, performance review shall be institutionalized as basis for higher rewards for good public servants and severe penalties for the inept and the corrupt. And second, we shall establish greater transparency and clear-cut mechanisms for reporting and prosecuting cases of graft and corruption to achieve zero-tolerance for corruption among those in government and even in the private sector.

7. Establish Peace in the Land

To establish peace in the land, first, the full force of Government shall be used to bring the Mindanao peace process to a fruitful resolution without compromising the integrity and sovereignty of the Philippine Republic; second, we shall invite the rebel forces to the negotiating table to impress upon them that under a new, prosperous and honest dispensation, all their causes shall be addressed under the umbrella of one Republic of the Philippines; third, while we speak softly, we shall carry a big stick by strengthening our land, air and sea defenses with modern equipment and weaponry as well as by providing high-level training for a leaner but meaner military force; and fourth, we shall strengthen our ties with both regional and global allies to more effectively address issues and concerns that transcend national boundaries and in the process establish the credibility and leadership of the Philippines.

Eddie is really bent in running again this coming 2010 National Elections! To some it’s bad news especially to the corrupt individuals, but to the Filipinos who love the Philippines as a nation, it must be good news to them!

If new face in politics is the clamor of the Philippine electorate, it must be Bro. Eddie Villanueva – Presidentiable on 2010 Philippine National Election, no more no less. He has no

political baggage to begin with. No debts to pay to any politicians or to any powerful individual in the country. Bro.Eddie’s successful running of the Jesus Is Lord Church Worlwide Multi-Ministry having 43 chapters in different countries is a testament of his proven leadership. A legitimate businessman-preacher who runs and owns several companies including Zoe TV 11. And I think, his number one qualification is his genuine love of the country and the Filipino people coupled with his integrity and proven track record as a leader.

I like it when he said “This world is too poor to buy my convictions based on truth, justice and righteousness.” I’ve also heard him mentioning many times Edmund Burk’s popular quote “The only necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.” He speaks more from the heart not from the head though he has both.

I would like to publish here one of the views I got from a blog. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get the commentators name but I hope that this will enlighten all Filipinos who loves God and country. Filipinos who are hungry for genuine CHANGE.

Why should Bro. Eddie Villanueva run for President in the 2010 National Elections?

The Philippines today is suffering so much from poverty, injustices, joblessness, corruption, hopelessness, apathy, and disbelief that change can actually happen to the nation. Our country has hit rock bottom, and this can only be remedied once a person will arise and stand before the nation with unquestionable moral ascendancy, righteous political will, a non-traditional political leader but has the capacity to change and transform the nation through a sensible and sound programs of government that will truly address the issues of the country especially the “masa”.

Moral Character

Bro. Eddie was transformed by the grace of God from a militant student leader, political radical activist-communist-atheist to an evangelist that has changed the lives of Filipinos all over the country and the world. Bro. Eddie cannot be bough tbecause he once said that “the world is too poor to buy his convictions ad principles based on truth, justice and righteousness.”

Educator, Economist and Broadcaster

Bro. He was the longest sitting University Regent of Polytechnic University of the Philippines without receiving a single centavo for his services because he allotted it for scholarship funds of poor students. Enrolled at the UP College of Law but did not finish because he was included in the most wanted list of the AFP during Martial Law. He is currently the host of “Diyos at Bayan” and “Jesus the Healer” programs being aired at ZOE11 and GMA7. He has a deep understanding of the root causes of the problems of our country right now.

Shepherd Leader

He is the founder and overseer of a worldwide movement that started from fifteen students of PUP and now has exploded to millions with chapters all over the country and in 45 countries all over the world. This is now called the Jesus is Lord Church Worldwide Movement or JIL. He also leads a lot of inter-faith movements and socio-political organizations. He has the heart of a true shepherd leader that gives hope everyday to men, women and youth.

Corruption Warrior

Bro. Eddie during his years as student activist was offered blank checks just to stop the rallies that he organized
for the workers who were paid unjustly. But no businessmen succeeded to buy him, his principle, his fight for justice and equality and love for the masses is indeed rooted in his veins that no amount of money can buy it. His entire life, he was offered sumptuous amount of money just to get his support and cooperation but he never compromised his beliefs. A person who was never bought by a single peso can literally combat corruption in this country.

Believes in the Filipinos

Bro. Eddie’s nationalism was rooted since his college days and even up to now. He is willing to die for the cause that he believes in. His advocacy remains as “Diyos at Bayan” and “Tunay na Pagbabago para sa Pilipinas”. Last November 2007, He, Sis. Dory and the JIL Church saved eight young Filipinas from the sex den in Malaysia. He made sure that the young OFW’s were freed and came home to the Philippines. They are now leading reformed lives because of the compassionate heart of JIL and Bro. Eddie. He believes in the innate goodness of Filipinos to effect change in the nation. He has the heart for all Filipinos from all walks of life.

Symbol of Change

Only a changed man can speak of change for the nation. Bro. Eddie’s experience and encounter with Jesus Christ is an unquestionable fact of the mercy of God through this man. He is called by God as the David of this nation who will fight the Goliaths of this country all in the name of bringing honor to God and hope for the Filipinos. He continues to challenge the powers that be because of the cause that God gave him to fulfill so that the Philippines can arise and reach the promised land. Bro. Eddie is the right person who can speak about changing the Philippines to a great nation of the world.

The Next Greatest President of the Philippines.

Bro. Eddie was born with a purpose. He is a gift to the Philippines and the world. He is tasked to launch a crusade and war for transformation in this country at the right time. And we believe that time has come that Bro. Eddie will offer himself to the Filipino nation and lead towards genuine change. He has always been consistent of his advocacy, he has never faltered. He belongs to the ranks of modern day heroes that has inspired and touch others with his own life. It is in this clamor that we, hopeful individuals, hungry for change call on Bro. Eddie Villanueva to run for President in the next 2010 elections. He is the only way. He remains to be a light in this very dark moment in our history.

Finally! Change is achievable with Bro. Eddie!

“There is pressure from the executive committee of Bangon Pilpinas party for us to make a public answer to that question because the Bangon Pilipinas Party has been receiving many questions along that line. So the decision could be made public by Sunday, October 5,” said Villanueva, who was in the House of Representatives this afternoon to receive a congressional commendation for JIL.

It is hard to imagine why our lawmakers are busy debating on how to change the constitution, the name of the streets, etc. etc. but lack the political will to battle the root cause and real problem why there is grinding poverty in our beloved country : Graft and Corruption? Yes! In Bold letter.

They may change everything, even our national hero Jose Rizal and put Manny Pacquiao instead legally, but the truth remains that the heart of the problem is the problem of the heart of our public leaders including us. I have heard a preaching one time in our church saying that sometimes, it is not what kind of system of government we have – socialism, communism, federalism, democratic, etc. – it is the change within that matters most. A change from without may work a little but we can not expect a drastic positive change of the economic situation of the common tao.

Let us therefore take into heart this New version of the Oath of Allegiance for the Filipinos:

Panatang Makabayan
(Revised or New Version)

Iniibig ko ang Pilipinas,
aking lupang sinilangan,
tahanan ng aking lahi,
kinukupkop ako at tinutulungang
maging malakas, masipag at marangal.

Dahil mahal ko ang Pilipinas,
diringgin ko ang payo ng aking magulang,
susundin ko ang tuntunin ng paaralan,
tutuparin ko ang tungkulin
ng mamamayang makabayan:
naglilingkod, nag-aaral at nagdarasal
ng buong katapatan.

Iaalay ko ang aking buhay,
pangarap, pagsisikap
sa bansang Pilipinas.

Panatang Makabayan
(Classic or Old Version)

Iniibig ko ang Pilipinas.
Ito ang aking lupang sinilangan.
Ito ang tahanan ng aking lahi.
Ako’y kanyang kinukupkop at tinutulungan,
upang maging malakas, maligaya at kapakipakinabang.

It is true that nothing is permanent on this Earth except change, but change will only mean nothing if there is no change in attitude.

But at this early, too late a response maybe, I am becoming restless with what’s happening between the two groups claiming to be and offer an alternative politics needed for our country – Kaya Natin! and Bro. Eddie’s Bagong Pilipinas Bagong Pilipino Movement. My dream to see a better Philippines after 2010 national election is seemingly in peril mainly because this important issue. It creates an atmosphere of disunity among us who are nation loving citizens.

What I am talking about is the statement of Kaya Natin! published in their website categorically denying the claim of Bro. Eddie’s camp that their has been an internal arrangement between Kaya Natin! and Sen. Mar Roxas’ liberal party. That a Mar Roxas – Ed Panlilio tandem is already a done deal. The source of this rumor according to Bro. Eddie’s group is reliable which then led to Bro. Eddie’s decision of not putting himself into the selection process as proposed by Kaya Natin! convenors because it will only be an exercise in futility.

There is no doubt that Bro. Eddie’s group and followers are solidly united as rock. And looking at the crowd during the launching of Bagong Pilipinas Bagong Pilipino Movement at the Araneta Coliseum, it tells me something again that Bro. Eddie really has the leadership charisma to rally people for a common cause. People in the crowd are coming from different social groups and not just members of the JIL. And comparing last 2004 elections, the Bagong Pilipinas Bagong Pilipino Movement also known as Bangon Pilipinas is seemingly by far well organized and have enough people nationwide to decently and seriously compete in 2010 national elections. Kaya Natin! on the other hand may have the resources but they lack the needed people with proven spirit of volunteerism. Take note the word Proven. That’s why these two groups need to unite so that come 2010 elections, our aspirations of having a righteous government will not be denied.

But come to think about it. If Kaya Natin! is categorically stating that all of Bro. Eddie’s group claims are untrue, baseless and just plain rumors, who is telling the truth then? Is there a possibility that either group has been penetrated by someone whose main objective is just to sow chaos? Both camps should consider every possibilities and for our nation’s sake, please do not throw mud of suspicions to each other at this early. Otherwise, the one seated in Malacanang is already laughing at us.

Hoping for Kaya Nating Ibangon ang Pilipinas slogan come 2010 national elections. Kaya Natin Kabangon!

Eddie Villanueva, the spiritual director of the Jesus Is Lord Church, condemned the arrest of Rodolfo “Jun” Lozada over perjury charges. Jun Lozada was instrumental in exposing the NBN deal scam.

Bro. Eddie said arrest is “continuous harassment” of the government against Jun Lozada, the man who blew the whistle on the allegedly anomalous $329-million national broadband network (NBN) deal with Chinas ZTE Corp. that linked the First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo. Until now, the case has not been resolved inspite of marathon investigations done in the Philippine Senate and Congress.

“The continuous harassment of Lozada through threats and intimidation surely is the most accurate description of an administration that has twisted and mangled the administration of justice in this country,” Bro. Eddie said in a statement. He added: “This truly is a sad, sad day for justice and democracy in our already blighted land under a leadership that has rightfully earned the dubious honor of being the most hated and most corrupt in our history.”

The church leader who is a pastor-on-leave called on the people to join hands to support Mr. Jun Lozada in fighting for the truth at the high risk of his safety.

“Jun Lozada is a persecuted hero,” said Bro. Eddie who recently led the launch of a national renewal movement dubbed Bagong Pilipinas, Bagong Pilipino Movement.

A team from the Manila Police District arrested Lozada at the De la Salle Greenhills in San Juan City over perjury cases lodged by former presidential chief of staff Michael Defensor. Jun Lozada freely gave himself up to authorities with the assistance of lawyer Jose Manuel Diokno who arrived and made sure that the arresting process was followed according to law.

Bro. Eddie Villanueva later added that they are in full support of Lozada whom he described as “a leading advocate of truth, justice and righteousness. His heroism proves that a Filipino, in respect to himself and his country, will not relent in the midst of grating persecution as he stands up for truth and justice.”

One of the many ways to spread news is over the net. And so, I would like to publish this great article emailed to me by a friend. It was all about Bro. Eddie Villanueva – Spiritual Director of the Jesus Is Lord Church – being the better alternative than Gov. Ed Panlilio of Pampanga to be a candidate for President in 2010 Philippine National Election. The article was written by Noah P. Caballero and I would say it’s an article worth reading by a person dreaming of a Better Philippines, then share it afterwards to people who have the same aspirations for our country.

Why Bro. Eddie is the better alternative presidential candidate?
Panlilio: Bro. Eddie is most qualified and more competent to be president.
By: Noah P. Caballero

CHANGE. PAGBABAGO. it is seem to be the slogan that every presidential candidate carries nowadays. By now everybody knows that President Barack Obama used it effectively during his campaign.

But can we really hope for change to come?

Lately, the group Kaya Natin sounded the same tune with Governor Ed Panlilio as their bet for president and Governor Grace Padaca as Vice president. The two governors have yet to give their final nod. But it must be said that the original concept or call for “PAGBABAGO” was started with the group of Bro. Eddie Villanueva when they launched the Bangon Pilipinas National Renewal Movement sometime in 2003 where Villanueva eventually run as the alternative president during the 2004 election.

The task force that convinced Villanueva to run was even named “Task Force Pagbabago (Task Force Change)” composed of various personalities. It can be remembered that four days before the May 10 election, Villanueva’s group stormed the Luneta with a record of 3.5 million people that shouted the cry of “PAGBABAGO!”

The only sad thing about it was that their idealism for change was not turned into votes since many believed that the election was already over three months ahead. There was no way that idealism could win over corruption at that time.

So what Kaya Natin is really doing is nothing new. Actually what Kaya Natin is doing looks like a copycat of what Bangon Pilipinas had done last 2004. “Piso-piso Para sa Pagbabago” was the fund-raising strategy of BP while “Piso at Pangalan para sa Pagbabago (Peso and Name for a Change)” is now the theme of Kaya Natin.

Thousands of volunteers came to BP’s wing from various groups and political persuasion in the hope of changing the nation. Political, entertainment, business and religious personalities came together and for the girls- even Piolo Pascual.

People bought and made their own campaign materials, they organized the movement in their town, cities and barangays and invited all sectors to join. It was a mesmerizing picture since no political group at that time could match to the number of people that came to Villanueva’s meeting de avance in the provinces. It was certainly a threat if not a growing threat.
Many political think tanks believed that if Villanueva had three months more to campaign, he could have nailed the presidency.

Alas, time was only up to May 10 and Garci sealed the deal.

So why is Bro. Eddie the better alternative president? There are at least five reasons.
1. Organizational wise, it shows that he has a national machinery in place that is tested and fueled by volunteerism.

2. Social awareness. He has a better exposure to the ills of the nation and how to address it by being a former intellectual communist and a professor of economics at the then Philippine College of Commerce now Polytechnic University of the Philippines.

3. Proven leadership. He has a track record of running a worldwide organization with productive results. This means strong leadership and managerial skills.

4. People skills. The organization he has speaks for itself and the people in power that highly respects him.

5. Advocacy. He is consistent with his advocacy against corruption and other pressing issues. He has not been bought by the bribes of Malacanang despite GMA coming to his house twice to offer heaven in exchange for his allegiance. That is integrity and yes, this may be the only thing that Among Ed does have an equal footing with Villanueva. Except the point that the pastor had encountered a bigger temptation from the angels of Gloria.

The lists could go all the way to ten but space would be a problem.

If Kaya Natin thinks that Gov. Ed is their right choice because of the fact that he increased the taxes of Pampanga, they might have to think again – running a nation or leadership in general is so much more than that.
The equation of this could be said that if Panlilio can’t solve the problems of Pampanga, how can he run 80 provinces more? If he has difficulty dealing with the so called “corrupt” politicians of Pampanga, try adding the entire population of board members and vice governors of the Philippines. No need to complicate the problem by adding the members of both houses of Congress and the LGU’s.

Even Gov. Ed is still dancing a Cha-cha, going back and forth with his statements while Bro. Eddie have not declined to continue his fight against the evils of this nation.

At the end of the day, this is not about the pastor and the priest that might compete for the highest office of the land, it is about competence and preparedness.

After all, it was Panlilio who spoke about this competence in an interview during the 30th anniversary of Villanueva’s church where he said, “I’m pushing for him (Bro. Eddie) to run because he is most qualified, more competent and he has the expertise and he has righteousness.”

That somehow reaffirmed his latest statement when he said, “If there is a more appropriate candidate, why will I present myself? I look at my role now as more of one of the convenors of a genuine reform coalition.”

Panlilio has surely found the more appropriate candidate since last year. He already spoke of it and knows it by heart. We’ll wait for his announcement.

Oh, it gets exciting- next time will be a quick look between Bro. Eddie and Chief Justice Reynato Puno.

Though until now, Bro. Eddie Villanueva is still undecided whether he will run again for president of the Philippines in the coming National Elections in 2010, he has been considered as the man to beat. Bro. Eddie Vi llanueva is the founder of the Jesus Is Lord Church Worldwide Multi-Ministry with 40 plus international churches as of this writing.

He has strong followings from masses to elites with the spirit of volunteerism. The Jesus Is Lord Multi-Ministry has established churches all over the country which can be turned into a virtual political machinery aside from the other churches that believe in his advocacies.

Bro. Eddie Villanueva already run for the same office in 2004 RP National Election but did not win because of many factors involved including massive cheating in favor of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo who is now serving her last two years as president.

Bro. Eddie Villanueva was a Professor in Economics of the then Philippine College of Commerce now Polytechnic University of the Philippines. His experienced in running an organized church worldwide is a strong testament of his capability to run a country. While it is true that a country is not equal to church when it comes to scope, isn’t it true also that running a church is as difficult as running a country because you have to deal with thousands of pastors with different character, culture, and nationality? His willingness to empower people and to delegate authority to qualified individual is what makes him an effective leader plus his leadership by example aside from being a visionary.

Bro. Eddie Villanueva is married to Sis. Dory Villanueva and blessed with 4 siblings namely: Jonjon – now a Mayor of Bocaue, Bulacan, Joel – now a Partylist Congressman, Joni – successful Businesswoman, and Juvy – a successful Businesswoman.

Bro. Eddie Villanueva is known to be a principled man of action. He can’t be bribed by anyone even with how much. He is also a successful Businessman running a TV Station.
